Cuzco (24, 25 April 2006)

Cuzco, what a lovely city. There was so much to see and in so little time! First we needed to acclimatize to the altitude of 3,326m which meant that we only rested on the first day. Here is Lorena and I strolling along in a Cuzco street.

We stayed in a nice hotel called "Casa Cusi Wasi" about five blocks from the main square. Here at breakfast the following morning discussing our plans.

The streets in Cuzco are narrow, cobbled and sometimes stepped. Many buildings have inka foundations, the city has a unique style and feel. Here I am in the Plaza de Armas in front of the Cathedral.

We visited the fabulous Coricancha - Inca ruins which form the base of the colonial church of Santo Domingo. Most impressive was the Inca stonework - they did not use (need) mortar.

Here is Lorena at one of the small Inca temples inside the Coricancha.
