Salzburg (26 June 2007)

Salzburg is the 2nd largest city in Austria, Mozart's hometown and the scenic place where the Sound of Music was filmed. Salzburg is beautiful from every sight and the Alps give the city this special sense of freedom and peace.

Here we are.

Is not a surprise for anyone that I am a big fan of "The Sound of Music" and as you can all imagine "The Sound of Music - tour" was a must. Enjoy the pictures and don't feel worried about singing "do, re, mi"; I did it during the whole trip.

Passau (25 June 2007)

We went to Passau to pick-up a rented car and it was a very good opportunity to visit the city of the 3 rivers (confluence of the Inn, the Danube and the Ilz).

Passau is on the border between Germany and Austria. The most important sites to visit are the castle "Veste Oberhaus", Stephandom, Rathaus, and the Pilgrimage Church "Mariahilf".

Here is John with the castle as background.

Myself with the view of Pilgrimage Church "Marianhilf"

Schönbrunn Palace - Vienna (23 June 2007)

Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria and since the 1960's has also been one of the major tourist attractions in Vienna.

It was marvellous to walked through the palace and see how the austrian real family used to live in their summer palace. The Schönbrunn was owned by the Habsburg since Maximiliam II until the end of the monarchy when it passed to be owned by the Austrian Republic

Here we are.

Statue Park (20 June 2007)

This was a fantastic place to visit in Budapest and by the way John's favorite. Hungary was under a comunist goverment until 1989. After all those years of suffer and pain, hungarians decided to destroy and take out all the statues from the former goverment. The good news for tourists is that now some of them are in the nominated "statue park". Enjoy the photos.

What a classic.

Lorena being silly.

Budapest (18-22 June 2007)

Budapest is an very romantic and idilic city. The Danube River divides the city in Buda and Pest and gives the visitors a marvellous view from every point. Here some good examples.

Stroll around the city, visit museums and castles, see statues, walk by the bridges, dine with candle lights, take a thermal bath or hang around Vaci Utca are some of the things we enjoyed more. Take a look to the pictures.

Heroe Square

Terror House (ex general hungarian nazi and communism offices).

Buda Castle. Beautiful place to walk around and visit the National Art Gallery and the History Museum.

Thermal Baths. My favorite place.

Frankfurt (16-18 June 2007)

Starting our trip in Europe we stopped for a couple of days in Frankfurt am Main and decided to make a little bit of tourism. Here we are with the Apfel-Wine Tram that takes tourist around the city.

Another place to visit is the old city (Romerburg) where we enjoyed the traditional german buildings.

A beautiful place to visit is the "Palmengarten". Lovely spot.

Is not new that we love "Starbucks Coffee" so we couldn't avoid this photo.
