Farewell at the Airport (24 June 2006)

Finally the last good bye arrived. It was so early in the morning but close and good friends went with me to the airport.

It was an strange feeling to leave my family and friends of all life. By the other hand I was just following my love and my dream.

Here with my lovely mum.

With Brunella (Vasco in Bru's tummy) and Tere.

And finally with my brother Alberto and Tatiana (Rafaelito in Tatiana'a tummy).

Time for Lorena to say Good-Bye I (last days June 2006)

The time to say good bye started with my godmother Maqui. She had to go to the US to visit her sisters, so we had to have an early farewell (Thanks Maqui for all the advice, I will always remember).

A few days later, my school friends invited me to a tea time at Vanessa's house. Thanks to all of you, everything was just delicious and I really enjoyed our time together. Here we are from L to R: Carla, Lucia, Vanessa, Lorena and Monica.

Also, my dear university friends decided to invite me to lunch at Maverick (a great pasta place). Thanks girls for the great friendship we have and for all those nice wishes. From L to R: Carolina, Nilza, Carla and Lorena.

After these first farewells Father's Day arrived. We celebrated at my brother's house eating chinese food. It was just great with the marvelous Inca Kola.
Here we all are from L to R: Andrea, Lorena, Tatiana, Camila, Carmen, Alberto and Saul (dad).

Time for Lorena to say Good-Bye II (last days June 2006)

In my last days in Lima a lot of friends called me to say "bye bye" and some of them visited me at home to wish me well in my new life. Thanks my dear Claudita and I have to tell you that the little "llama" is already in my lounge room. All the times I look at it, I remember all our adventures and the fantastic friendship that we have.

Thanks (from L to R) Kathy, Judith and Mari. We known each other for a long time and I am sure that our love will still be strong even if I am so far away.

Finally, but it does not mean last, Juan Manuel and Mari. Thanks so much for everything (and also for the cafeeeeeeeeeeee times). See you soon Juan Ma.

Time for me to say goodbye. Shortly a new life in Australia but I am travelling there first and two weeks later Lorena will join me. Here with Carmen, Lorena and Saul.

Saying goodbye to Maqui.

And to Tatiana and Alberto.

It is sad to be leaving my many good new friends behind although exciting to be about to start a new life with lovely Lorena. Perhaps people will come and visit us?

Cajamarca - Cumbe Mayo (26 May 2006)

We took a trip up to Cumbe Mayo which is considerably higher than Cajamarca - and Lorena was thinking there would not be any more altitude! Ooops. It was worth the effort though, a pleasant excursion. The area is also known as "Bosque de rocas" or "forest of rocks". It was a landscape full of rocky column-like formations.

Many of these rocks had familiar forms - can you see the pirate behind Lorena? Arrrgghhh. (In the shadow high up the hill).

Or perhaps the giant snail?

The area is also well known for the extensive pre-inca canals that are still in good condition - here I am.

And here is Lorena by the canal and some surviving inscriptions. A good day.

Incidentally travelling here entailed crossing a saddle - a watershed dividing saddle. Water on one side will go to the Pacific and on the other side - to the Atlantic. Oh, boy.
